The Older You Get, the Harder it is to Get Pregnant

Filed under: Preconception, Infertility — Gettingpregnant.com Team @ 11:54 pm

Memphis, TN- The majority of infertility today is a result of more women waiting to become pregnant, Dr. Sherman Silber, author of How to Get Pregnant, said recently. Dr. Silber told ABC News that age does not affect a man’s ability to father a child, however. “When women are in their early 20’s they have a 1% chance of being infertile. By the time women reach their late 20’s they have a 16% chance of being infertile. The number goes up to 25% when they get into their 30’s,” ABC News reported.
Not being able to conceive can be one of life’s biggest struggles for many women, and they will often try anything to help improve their chances to become pregnant. Unfortunately fertility drugs, fertility cycle monitoring, and ovulation calculators don’t always work. Now parents have the added fear that the treatments they use could result in birth defects.
One company in Memphis believes they have a better solution for infertility. A spokesman for Selmedica Healthcare Corporation said, “For many women, infertility is due to a shortened or irregular menstrual cycle. Each of the ingredients in Ovulex have a specific action which work together to allow for a longer ovulation period, giving you a greater opportunity to conceive.”
Sherry Hollingsworth considered in vitro fertilization after treatments for Hodgkin’s Lymphoma left her struggling to conceive. “I was determined to overcome this infertility battle. I took three rounds of Clomid and it didn’t work. I considered IUI and IVF, but was uneasy about the whole process.”
Hollingsworth turned to herbal supplements. “After only taking Ovulex for one month, I finally got pregnant,” she said.

Filed under: Getting Pregnant Update, Infertility — Gettingpregnant.com Team @ 9:59 pm

Added an article to our Infertilty Section by Dr. Mike Berkely:
While a woman is born with all the eggs she’ll ever have, men produce sperm on a continual basis. Therefore, what a man does on a daily basis can affect the sperm maturation process.

Smoking, drinking, drugs, stress, poor nutrition and lack of exercise all can contribute to poor sperm quality. And, it was recently discovered, a man’s sperm quality begins to decline around the age of 25.

There are five main factors that contribute to overall sperm quality. They include sperm motility, speed, count, concentration and morphology (shape and size)……
